Fishin’
Well yesterday was fun! We went fishing for the second time in Paul Khoo’s boat. On the first trip (last Friday) I caught 5 fish – all uneatable varieties that were thrown back. This time I got my hands on a barely legal Sweetlip – just on the 30cm mark. It was my fouth catch, the prevous three being no good. Alas, it was the only decent fish that was caught on Monday which was rarther poorly compared with last Friday.
Immediatally after catching it but, I started to regret it. When we got back I had the tremendous fun of scaling, gutting and filliting the bloody thing. We weren’t left with much too after that process, just 4 small fillets. Unfortunatally it didn’t end there, I ended up frying it (the electric frypan was all we had due to gas problems) in butter and red wine (97 vintage no less!). Fortunatally it actually tasted quite nice much to my surprise so all the effort was not wasted.
The highlight however had to be my discovery of “moving rice” in a certain bag of garbage that apparentally had made the bench top (fortunatally _not_ the one I had been using to prepare the fish) home. But that is another story.
We got the tilt train back today, which was pretty fun – accept for the “mini meal” that I ordered (for a not so mini price) which turned out to be a rarther depressed looking spageti bollonaise, Paul had the same so at least I had company there :). It was very fast – we got up to 160kmph just before Maryborough but they had to hit the breaks fast :(. Booking went down a treat – as we had bought our tickets online all we did was rock up and say our names to get the tickets.
I would not recommend using the checked baggage service however if you are getting off at a big station. Unlike Dave who had his luggage nicely moved off the train and wheeled to the front of the station – ours was simly dumped onto the platform amoungst a horde of crazed people. Not so good.
Well I’m tired now, so maybe I shall write up some more tales for the prevous days tomorrow – if I have a chance to inbetween my Christmas shopping *groan*.

And at least they don’t have the hide to charge $7.45!
