Well there goes my good idea. I was hoping that by using C# one was able to create a stand alone exe (with no runtimes). .NET has a very fat 20MB runtime file :( look here As far as I can tell this means if you want to write a VB(.net) or C# app (or C++???? not sure) you will need to give your users this runtime :(.

Looks like I shall have to stick to VS6 C++ for my winexe needs. Fortunatally there is an IMHO better language with a smaller runtime out there (at a quarter of the size) and a smaller SDK (at about 20MB rather than > 1GB)
