Why Me?
Somebody out there it seems does not want me to be in the IT support industry.
Below is a list of everything that has broken over the last 3 months:
- Day 1 on the job: Power Transformer gracefully dies and is replaced on same day
- After a month: Reception computer power transformer gracefully dies, unfortunatally this power transformer is an old, no longer manufactured chunky one
- A few days later: Server OS data HDD dies
- A few weeks later: My computer one HDD dies
- 4:50pm the day before good friday (on the day I was catching a plane), Dr Hirst’s computer power supply explodes, smoke engulfes room
- Two days ago: Power failure causes renders one computer indefinitally
Two weeks later: Brand new WD 200GB HDD dies (fortunatally does not have all our data on it – yet)
Each of those failures except the first one has caused an OS reinstall which is a painstaking process when every person has their own set of printer names, default printers, desktop shortcut and everything else. I have probably spent a good 60-70 full hours just reinstalling/testing the setup.
Now I know HDD’s die on occassion, I have personally had 3 bite the dust and transformers do occasionally blow up, I have had one do that in my presence but over a 3 and a half month peroid? You have got to be kidding. Of course, none of these items has yet been covered by warentee except for the brand new 200GB HDD of course.
This is obviously karma trying to balance out my good luck of late – but sheesh it’s pretty harsh.
Will.
Peeve of the day
People who using electronic corrospondance and only answer a single part of a multi-part question or don’t even read the question properly in the first case.
a markable improvement
well I must say today is looking to be quite good compared to yesterday’s schmozzle – maybe I might even be able to get away early (or at least on time!)
Time now to buy easter eggs and eat a Kabab :D

If only life was like a dilbert comic…
oh how I would love to leave early. Instead I stay back 2 hours trying to coax an Access database into making logical sense. Ah well. Time to do some stuff – finally :)

mmm pizza
Hi,
Look – I am updating this site on a saturday. Try not to faint!
Photo galleries are coming soon people – they will hopefully be working before my trip to Melbourne with Alison over the easter long weekend.
An interesting statistic: Approximatally one thousand people have download Gallery Mage 1 since the relaunch of TankSoftware.com in January this year! Since about eight thousand have downloaded Simple Picture Gallery Manager – one might assume that one in eight SPGM users also use Gallery Mage :D
Better get back to my work,
Will.
PS. for anyone wounder why I titled this post “mmm pizza” it is because we may be having pizza tonight :)
1 Graduation down, 1 to go
