Bigpond CDLP modems
peter: read my comment reply :)
If you have an old CDLP Telstra modem –
a) it will be replaced soon, and
b) you can’t be capped!
If you don’t – then it seems they are getting a bit better at the capping…
But, a soft cap is always better than a hard cap.
More info here including model numbers etc…

well don’t go too far over 10GB
but you may not be capped – cable was very very slow tonight. Telstra’s fault. Don’t fret – even capped speeds are ok for general surfing/gaming.
Check the forums here: http://whirlpool.net.au/
There about 4 threads relating to the slowdown today.
Hope you didn’t pannick :)
Cya,

amke that here
and are you sure you have a DOCSIS? that one is pretty old… and it’s the same model as Rhys’ old one which was lost in a lightning storm (a trait of the old modems…)
Will.
whew thats a relief i thought i’d been capped..
and yes its definately a DOCSIS. i checked the manual.
roffle
are you actually over 10GB?
no i’m at like 9.1 but it said it had been delayed so i thought it might have been over 10
read whirlpool – they email you before they cap you (so check ur telstra account).
I play to wait till the last 5-10 days then unleash on the remaining simpsons epsides.
The idea IMHO is to stay under the radar – if you go over 10GB right at the start, obviously you are a heavy user – but if you wait till the end, many many more people will be doing the same.
makes life a little more fun not having a hard cap ;-)

weeellllll it turns out i have a DOCSIS modem and NOT a CDLP, and it also turns out that i’ve gone over 10GB and it ALSO turns out that my speed has been capped because its going excruciatingly slow and the month is only a third of the way through… FUCK!!
