Camping

Alison and I took the weekend off last week to go camping in the Great Otway National Park.

Our campground was at Blanket Bay, in the middle of park and on the coast, 6 bumpy k’s from the nearest sealed road. Being a National Park campsite there wasn’t any luxuries like warm showers or for that matter showers at all (and unless I have gone soft, I have never swam in colder water than the sea at Blanket Bay!).

It was good fun, we went for some nice walks, a (rather) brief swim, played cards and had V for Vendetta style eggy in a basket (which I must say is not bad at all for a camping meal!). The rain held off (mostly) which was lucky. Watched the Grand Final (it’s compulsary in Vic) in a Apollo Bay pub – what an exciting final quarter!.

The place was packed with Koalas too – they were actually fairly lively for a change, walking around from tree to tree (and across the road).
